Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Texas Acquired by Symetra Life Insurance Company

On Oct. 1, 2025, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas Life and Disability (BCBSTX) business was acquired by Symetra Life Insurance Company. As a result, you may see BCBSTX and Symetra Life used interchangeably during this process.
 

What does this mean for your district?
  • You will see new logos and names change on future administrative documents including policies reflecting Symetra Life Insurance Company.
  • Your current services and contracts remain unchanged.
  • All rates and rate guarantees (extension mentioned above) will be honored.
  • Your program contacts remain unchanged.
  • Symetra is rated A (Excellent) by A.M. Best and rated A (Strong) by Standard & Poor’s, which means you will receive exceptional coverage from a stable company.

Life/AD&D Rates Extended through Aug. 31, 2030!

Third Party Administrator/Broker Extension Agreement

In 2018, TEEBC conducted a market search for a Third-Party Administrator (TPA).  Per the evaluation of the TEEBC Board, the First Financial Group of America (FFGA) was selected as the TPA for TEEBC. The initial term was for 5 years. 

At the September 28, 2023, TEEBC Board meeting, FFGA offered a 5-year extension to commence on September 1, 2024. Based on the success and growth of the program offerings and increase in district membership to TEEBC, as well as district service satisfaction; the Board unanimously approved the extension which will continue through September 2029.

TEEBC and FFGA look forward to continuing this successful relationship as we serve the needs of the Texas education community in the area of Employer/Employee Benefit offerings.
